That was yesterday.
I recall clear – the first time He said something like that to me, around pre- high school. Back then youre thinking youre just being hyper…that dizzy joy in my younger heart’s prayer answered:
It was a big deal ( still is) to get an extravagant favour, but I did get it – my whole box of chocolates from a friend of the family. I’d asked, asked God – and received. (Ma insisting we don’t be covetous in our praying and that there were hungry kids not just in another continent but across the street).
Ok. But He still heard. Not just the every day little needs of my growing life, but details I’d no clue to ask for: extra flowers, trips, nice neighbours, Grace, music, birdsong, emeralds in sea waves, healing from fevers, healing from a certaun Math teacher, Love, Joy & Peace in plates of laughter, sunrises, of moonlit nights with fellow chatters, in the veranda where we grew from strength to strength via human loss, humanness and Sacred remuneration. My greatest miracle was knowing God was above Santa Claus. He wasn’t black or white: Him – bigger than all the hurt of the world put together. My greatest moment was knowing I was not exempt from badness, but that His arms stretched so wide they crossed out every evil. I changed sides from indifference (Satan’s middle name), to His.
Uh uh. No compromise.
Yesterday I asked for an Angel who could steer us through an Educational Hazard. Signatures were needed. We’d just had a nasty episode….I’ll say no more. All the oceans within me spilled out and I sank in the floor. I’d been waiting for a miracle, but nothing happened. The family rallied around my mess. Ah Lord God, I whispered in my throat. You’ve forgotten Your Promise. You’ve forgotten me, and that little boy you gave me as a son. He can’t see the world, and the world doesn’t see him. And theres me who now can’t see our way thru this.
“Don’t be scared of My Miracles.” He said it again.
Seriously?
Yes.
Then He made me Google this. “Do I really need a BEO.DWcx signature for this….”
Guess what. The DEDPI ( a superior ) had said we didn’t need those anymore!
Then we ran into a real human angel, who continues to surprise us with an emotional stamina and technical swiftness I’m yet to understand.
Miracles, you might know too, happen on the edge of Sacred ravine, in the teeth of wolf, in the dark of a mean day, in the mid night of Faith.
Yes I’m reliving my sweet miracle of long ago, and the ones yesterday where an Impossible stranger walked right in my face and said, ‘Hello.’ (I’m watering down events here).
Yes, I’m steadily, more and more Startled by Life, by the Life and Love of God, right in our existence, where we might be giving up on Solutions.
Not saying it’s all pretty, pat and neat. Not saying there won’t be rose bush fragrant with thorn
..and yet am stunned all over again, by the One Who never stops believing in Us, especially when we’re losing it. Sweet Dear Lord Jesus, its YOU that signed up for me, all in Your Blood –
Gratitude.
Gratitude.
