Longing

Is Longing a prayer,

Is waiting a request?

My high school Principal isn’t someone I think wants to talk me, but after all this time, thru a series of events, she and I got to chat on a video call. S.Rosa is bedridden and takes a while to form her words. After looking at me unblinking, she finally whispers, “Its a dream come true, to talk with you Ray..”

Golden words. Now I’m fighting this new need to travel across our country and go visit Sis Rosa where she now lives, on the top of a hill opposite the very chapel I’ve written about over and over.

It will be a treat, it will be something to actually make it there. It has to be soon; Sis R doesn’t have much time left. (Who has?)

Does He hear human longings? We’ve had big miracles, or small ones, there’ve been denials. There have been answers to prayers we never ask for. This afternoon as we finish another week, I’m stoked by this new emotion. The need to reach back in time and meet a precious Teacher / Mentor who taught me my first lessons in Literature. What a beautiful lady. I think I owe her a whole separate post as Tribute. Maybe she will read it.

But this one is for my friends @ FMFWriters, on Longing. I know God reads our Blog posts, especially if He’s mentioned. It is the tendency to say, “_May He hear all your requests.” (Like whether He approves or not. Then again, it does say “Ask and it will be given you…”)

You’ve grown, I dont recognise you. You just had two pony tails!” She said.

My heart melted and left a vacuum waiting to be filled. We have at least 25 years between us, Sis Rosa and I. Yet what is that, in the Light of Humans, somehow held together by God’s will?

NJ says we must go. Everyone says, yes! It won’t be easy, but it will be fun.

Have you talked with your School Princy after 45 +years and you realise she’s the sweetest angel you ever had the fortune to be together with, in those school girl days?

Yes it will be a break from the predictable; a break from things we think we know/ knew. A break from remembering your past as a child, and seeing it with the eyes of an adult. A very grateful adult. And then you realize : longings that strengthen Gratitude, are best not ignored.

Thank you too FMF Writers. You make writing a shared experience here; it fills with new aspect to the Week’s Prompt, each session.

Blest!

  1. As I’ve sat and wondered why I should bother writing more/again (it’s ‘frivolous’), your thought about God reading our writing has given me some peace and reassurance that it IS what I am being called to do, and it is not frivolous. I’m laughing thinking about telling God I didn’t do what he asked me to simply because others thought it was frivolous. Thanks for the smile. 🙂

Thank you for reassuring me. I’m right in the middle of a draft to publish this season, but doubts creep in. ESP the negatives flung!

I honestly can’t think of any reason I’d want to talk with an old school principal. But everyone lives their lives differently eh? And I’m glad you were able to connect. Your comment about God reading our blog posts connected with me. Thank you. Visiting from FMF18

        1. You have that very special Teacher touch. I always thought how a Teacher is like a kind of Momma liberated! My mom was one too. I began at age 12, helping Ma with tuitions and then taught part time thru’ college. Ma had her own nursery school. I had so much of it, thought I’d never ever be a teacher pl again. But folks started contacting me from back when. Some still call me “Little Miss”. Ma was the Big one.🤗
So glad you re here and felt my heart.
I’ve homeschooled /colleged two of our kids. Quite the feat. I’m not seriously academic, so they got a lot of fun enrolled.

Thank you for the Teachers’ Tribe. You’re a People Group thats priceless. Gods own angels.

          1. You have done a wonderful job as a teacher and a human being. Credit goes to your Ma. My Ma was the best blessing in my life – I do have a long list of blessings to be thankful for. People like you make life worthwhile. Most run after things that have little value at the end. These acts are priceless and live forever. You are truly an angel. 🤗💕

            1. Thank you dear friend for your kind words 🌱🌷🌿 warms my heart. So I see we both have these wonderful mommas, so grateful for them. You’re still a teacher? Mine was the Kindergarten, music and slowly, drama. Princy would ask me to take classes for high school, I looked very tiny back then, got booed out of one class😅
Lovely memories. For a while, more recently I got involved with my sons schools, (blind school) that was a serious challenge, I couldn’t cope with the sad stories. Life’s so full of roses and thorns. What a privilege to meet one another, even here.
              God bless your precious heart.❣️🤗😊
