Help me be human#Advent 2025

#21. A Prayer-a-day

Father,

I saw a poor woman smile today, it felt so good to see her gratitude. But the other time I tried a good deed: the person was not nice. (I always need a return gift of appreciation??!)

You say,”Blessed are the poor, the meek, the broken hearted down trodden, theirs is the kingdom of God. ” How do I spread Your Cheer the way You’d do, without waiting to be loved back.

I can’t be an angel, but help me be human, the way You made us, with a heart that looks out for another, & not always expecting gratitude in return, (tho’ that feels so nice); help!

And please bless that dear woman, meet her needs in more ways than I ever can. Please open my eyes to the neighborhood around here. We are packed with crowds, and too many lonely people. Too many.

This Advent, may I have a little more heart for those You might send my way. Teach me the Gift of Voluntary Invisibility. (Like You). In Jesu’s name I pray, amen

P.S.

Have you thought about the goodness of God: It is dedicatedly invisible, never stopping His Supply of Grace because we did not offer Gratitude, and might even allow us to take credit for what He did. …?

Overwhelmed by Grace,

God bless us all please.

“Faith, Hope & Love, but the greatest of these is Love.”

  1. Perhaps a plain text link will allow you to open this short poem about a gift to a beggar.

This prayer of yours took me back to a poem: A candle of hope.
I wonder what you’ll make of it but above all hope it is meaningful.
