Give me the mind of Christ

Another misty 6 am. Am woken up with the words, “Wake up child.” It was a dream? But the heart sings as feet touch floor. It is that morning pre- blue.

“Wake up child?” The whole place is smiling. Even the river stones we got last week from NJ’s home river: little deep brown and smooth memoirs of tides. Of seasonings.

I’m reminded of David’s 5 pebbles, the one he used to slay Goliath. Unsure what Goliath lurks today. Nj and I leave home in an hour for a pleasant errand other side of the city. I’m grateful for the amount of healing received in our home, and there are the few nasties like my auto immune.

“Wake up child.” So I got these few lines here as I sat here looking at this bowl of river stones.

If its a wilderness, there’s a stream in this. A reminder to wastelands, that there’s a channel playing My song – you are not alone, you’re in the company of heaven, if you believe..”

“A channel playing My song?” (Channel like in rivers, canals? Or Spotify?).

He speaks between my ears, and in the pulse of this hour. Am recording this before ‘logic’ and social distancing from His Presence tries to kick in. Unsure who these words are for, but for sure, its for me first. In case you’re wondering, I too ( like most chronic bloggers), write here from an inner dialogue. Yes – value it if resonated by fellow bloggers/ any, It i s my resonance with God, the Christ, the Holy Spirit that’s sustained me and family all this time.

With our precious son Yona

Today I echo a few lines the Lord gave me (line for line), in our living room floor as our two younger ones and I, kneeled asking guidance in their homeschooling. Wasn’t easy, I’m not an academic momma. But this came off without a stutter:

🎶

"Give me the mind of Christ
the strength to do Your will
my feet go where You lead me
to follow or be still.

Give us the Mind of Christ
Filled with Your compassion
Blest to be a blessing
a city on a hill
A light in the darkness
a stream in desert sands
With love reaching to others
I pray to be Your Hand,

Oh Lord God My Father
These words I pray today
My heart needs Your filling
Hear me now I pray..."

So it wasn’t all easy and smooth. But every river crossing found us a tiny pebble to slay a new Goliath.

Yeh, wake up Child. Slay your wilderness. There’s a Stream in this desert, a reminder to wastelands, a Channel of His Song: “You are not alone, you are loved by The Father Whose son Jesus traded His Blood for ours, that we might live, free of Goliaths, if we believe in Him.” A reminder to wastelands that with Him there’s absolute freedom. Don’t shut up storm clouds, they’re bringing in the rain!

We may need to re-write our “normal”, re- wire shortsightedness in the Presence of God. We will walk on water, Ey – may face a stalker. But there will be Grace. There will be the brush of angel wing, the touch of the Healer.

Healing cones gentle. He heals our soul first. The illness is often only a Door opening into His Secret Place, where we hear God sing. And the Song becomes a new normal. You change, morph. Feet curl into wings. Yes we’re fragile, like little dew drop, here a moment- and yet witness of the Dawn. May you see Him today. Even hear His tender call, “Wake up child..”

Have a blessed Day in Jesus.

      1. I have a friend who’s daughter LOVES hedgehogs. So for her birthday I found her a 50 pack of mini hedgehogs and had them sent to her. Now her Dad says he finds them tucked into little spots all over the house!

      1. Thank you! I am doing well–I am spending more time in our local community (working part time, leading retreats), so I have less time for this lovely global writing community! I continue to read your posts–and always carry an inspiration from them. You have such a gift, and I am always grateful to have connected with you here. Bless you!

  4. I echo your poem Rayla. Gaining the mind of Christ Turns my perspective world around. Yet I want to find bigger rocks even though I know God sizes them for Him not for my way of thinking.

    1. Gary, we still celebrating your daughters’ healing. Thank you for saying, and for being here.

I get you about the ‘bigger rocks’. My dad would say it takes a whole lifetime for us to understand His ways. And then when we do, its time to pass on.

Wow. Meanwhile, all our river crossings and pebble adventures.

It hurts with joyful mess to be a parent. And yet, I guess thats a sample of Gods heart, and His own tough moments as our Parent.

Noel calls all this “Eternal perspective.” 🍃the Mind of Christ.

Everyday, and more lately, I’m asking for that kind of mind

      🙏🏼

    Dear Rayla,

Once again, your Pen feels like Dipped in heaven’s ink.

Your reflections carry a rare tenderness, the way you weave Scripture, daily life, and God’s whispers creates a space where the reader can feel the nearness of His presence.

The imagery of pebbles, rivers, and wilderness is powerful; you remind us that even in fragile seasons, God is shaping victories and streaming His song through the quiet places.

    Shawn Solomon.
