It is not just about singing, but reaching into that realm where words become tears in the Presence of His Majesty.

Who knew our millenial girl would not just bake the best brownies/ cook ultimate Thai cuisine – but also grow into a person that gets her Bible before getting out of bed? (She finds the Book of Job fascinating, this from a kid who never liked reading).
“It is full of wisdom, on how God works with humans, with everything…!!! And the Bible is the only Book I really like reading Ma. But I’m also reading, “Cross & the Switchblade. And “The Torn Veil, by Gulshan Esther.” (A must read)!

Kit used to only listen to EDM. (Don’t go thinking we haven’t had our wars. Now I realize she’s so like me. And not. (She’s so like Noel too:) Little pieces of us all – put together by the Master Artist Himself. The joy of parenting is realizing that God just got better with each generation).
Her fav music ? “Poignant.”
“What ?” I thought she didn’t get me or vice versa.
“Haven’t heard of ‘Poignant‘ Poignant as in deep and meaningful, Ma? And Indie-folk. Stephen Stanley – ‘Hell or high water….’“
(They don’t talk about simple genres these days? She means ‘minimalist emotive music’ something like that. And Indie- folk??? Like Indian people, oh Independants! All the genre I have in me is Worship:)

For a while, we found it hard to believe: about her Bible Reading hour, but it is true. She met God on her own terms, and began to worship meaningfully.
“…and please, I don’t want to go thru more big college degrees- Dad, Ma.”
Kit went with BSW, Delhi Univ, online. It took us on internships, (some times I accompanied) -enroute some Korean/ Thai Eateries. Kit is a foodie and with her, we two became popcorn, ice cream confidantes. BSW errands also routed via interesting Shoppes where she inititated momma (me) into aroma oils, Sales! , bake goodies near Westside, trinket counters, more ice cream, oh bags, “Ma I need this one…/ you?”…pet shops,
adopting 2 pigeons called ‘Ti & Timo’. When they both went to heaven, we had a sorrowful shoe box funeral, & Vihan’s counsel for heart repair…
then there were six stray pups in our living room after their mommy passed, and we stayed up hours feeding them. The six grew overnight; we had neighbor kids coming in to play till Animal Rescue arrived and Kit wrote heart wrenching good bye notes for each pup’s new owners, all recently. My home is endangered by Animal Kingdom lovers. They admire even owls (& once named a local visitor Thomas! He kept asking, “Who??” 😅)

When a Lil bird begins to sing, you know it is from a real place. All her feathers grow into a shine that reflects the sun, the Son of God. Kit is a warrior, a brand ambassador of a generation that could’ve been elsewhere doing anything else, not here at the feet of the One she truly worships. There are days when the words she speaks at Family devotions, can draw us right into His Presence.

Kitsy was 4 years old when we knew she was a serious people person, when she brought a certain musician back into church after he had performed that Christmas and did not wish to sit inside. He was from a well known Quartet, and not necessarily fond of sermons. Kit made him get a glass of water (unsure why now) and led him by the hand, to front row – much to the astonished delight of our then Pastor, who was this Bassist’s close friend. “Who else could’ve brought Mr. ….back in here and that too at the front, but Kit?” He said later unable to control awe & grin.
What can I say: I’m a mom, a show off parent😍. Noel is too, but he wouldn’t Post about it for sure. He’s the Sound Genie behind all this, made sure she started singing out loud. Why is my family (and parents before that) singing all the time ? It is why the rain bird goes on and on I guess. Koyals, we call them here. They herald the rain, thru storm clouds or shine, I’m sure they call out the presence of our Creator. Just so grateful to see/ listen to His Voice in our young ones. (Kitsy, thank you for being such a mega-sound bite from the Heart of Heaven).
*Soul chef : is what we call people whom God uses in His Ministry of Comfort. (Maybe you are one too!)
