Courage is not the absence of fear

A Visit

No he won’t bite or whip tail, but can if provoked.”

Yesterday @Prani

“Take a picture?” I ask. Animal Educator Simi replies, “Get your face close to his. Stay calm.”

Iguana does not blink and I stare with awe at a new widened horizon.

What a huge earth it is: Iguana and I are of the same planet & Universe. Curiously related to each other as Earth- inhabitants. We both have heart, eyes, breathe, eat. We are fellow creatures & awkward. We have the distinction of being both Predator and Prey. We hunt, we are hunted. We will both die one day, and now live as aliens.

Yes I feel stronger for getting this close and looking him in the face, at yesterday’s trip.

This Pet Sanctuary with 700+ rescue animals, (from a retired race horse to a parrot healing from PTSD), is 2 acres of lush earth, in the outskirts of our city.

Another Beauty~(below) Silver peasant male is gorgeous. Not so the female. Predators aren’t attracted to her, they attack him. It is their Code of Protection. Now I know why my husband Nj is better built for this world than I am. His coping skills are beyond belief. He can read bad news and get on with the day. I build a massive high tower and crawl under double locked doors, then I lose the key. And have to break the imaginary door of my calculated fear of all calculated risks about to be shaken, any time!

Narrow path away from these two silver peasants, is a secluded shady area and we can’t take eyes off a parrot with just a few feathers neck down.

Nj asks our Guide about him. “He’s had a sad life, tried to self destruct. But he’s happy now. See, he’s letting his feathers grow back. It will take time. One by one he’ll work out new feathers. We have him in a quieter corner here, where there’s lesser people or noise. “

Is that how you cope? Let one feather grow at a time; let a Wing heal, go quiet, breathe, lesser noise? Dive into a Quiet Time with the Word of God. If you’ve not done that, don’t laugh. I’m done racing circles trying to be wise in my own steam.

I believe evil will be evil but Good overwhelms it.

NJ & Maya.

At the Aquary, it is a smash of colors and friendly bird claw: reds, blues, green, yellows. A Macaw pokes an eye at us, then looks away bored. As we move, I say ‘bye to Macaw. The Guide grins at all, and at Macaw who holds out a claw – they’re friends? Guide nods. They know each other, it took a while.

It took a while.”

Why is it so hard for the Human Species to be Friends? I mean after all this Time! We’ve done centuries together.

Under a banian tree they’re hosting python & cousins. We quickly retreat to a shaded pond – searching for something naturally sweet to look at,

but here’s a whole gang of emerald & snow winged creatures all in the death hunt of one female; (horrifically reminding me of certain human behavior)

Get her consent first!” One of our girls yells. Animal Educator sighs, finishes what he was saying, “They’ve forgotten to fly, they now cohabit, there’s food here. Wild gesse. They don’t leave.

Our girls glare at Educator. He repeats,

“They’ve forgotten how to fly..” His serious young face is polite. “Here they are well fed, they bathe in clean surroundings. Out there some have been shot, hunted, or died in pollution, even air crafts, or natural disasters.

But why are they even in a fence? My girl asks later, her eyes wide with some anger.

You cringe at Us, burrowing into their natural habitat. We did not ask, we took what we needed. We say nothing, just move forward, guilty,

past a clump of sunflower-look- a likes.

Two pirate Roosters have a Face off: their horned feet rear at each other. The fight is Territorial. Or for pleasure. If they’re not fighting, they’re not working. Which is why some people use these birds for Game, like a bull fight. These birds fight for supremacy.

From the beginning of the Beginning, the serpent fought to get Adam & Eve out. He thought he’d get Eden later – for now, he wanted the First man, woman, their children…today he’s still vying for good earth, to rule. His strategy is to divide us against each other. The thought stares at me.

We get something cool to drink. Lime juice.

Yona asks questions, then goes quiet. I wonder more and more what its like to be blind in a confused world, where sometimes we have no words to describe certain events happening today. Yes he better know, but how do you teach an innocent mind about new fears? We hold closer, praying for wisdom enough to inspire Courage.

Yona loved the rabbits & hamsters

We’d just met the lil love of my current life: Mr.Hedgehog, it hadn’t gone good. Hedgehog nipped my finger. He was either fed up of being touched a thousand times a day, or just angry at the whole aspect of a Pet House. He didn’t wish to be any Public Pet. Who would even like that? “Imagine being petted by endless people who paid to come visit you?! ” our girls ask.

Hedgehog!

What dyou say to the Volume of Life happening the way it is? With humans having less right to life itself, what happens to animals, is anybody’s guess.

Praying we have moderately boring days again- with the luxury of being a bit lazy even, unafraid. Play with each other. Oh with enough stability to just go clean of mental clutter.

De – clutter?

Besides piling out old newspapers with all bad news, I love a drink of cool water from copper jar. ..+ Good News!

The volume of present evil, cannot clutter the Presence of God. Unless I let it.
