“Stabilized?”
If you could pray one prayer for our earth today, what would it be? “Stabilize us Lord God, ” is my request. And yet that – in the context of Christmas, would make us as the Stable of Christ, sweet humble lowly. Oho. Would we?

Had a get together with few friends. It was great fun till someone suggested a prayer. The awkward moment grew more awkward as someone said a few words describing why we met in the first place. The whole story of the Stable seemed unacceptable. They said, we’re just here to have a good time, let’s be merry and eat! Later one of the few there, wanted to know what Christmas was actually about. The contrast of the why of Christmas, the Who of it( Jesus), the whole subject of how He lived, died, rose again, for us – felt alien in that poolside crowd that sang from a dark dark place of torn memories and wounds that really needed the touch of the Savior. That night ended so deeply comforting, When you understand the Jesus of the Nativity, you understand our own earth’s instability-

On the surface we do not want to congregate as/ with smelly mumbling sheep. The reason why we still do Cantatas of Psalm 23, under stained- glass windows of the Shepherd, is that every human, irrespective of whatever label we live under, every human, is a Seeker of God. Every act, no matter how dark, is still the human soul thirsting for Salvation, even in beers …and I don’t mean that lightly.

What stabilises me : fleeting feel good merchandize, a pat on the back, an act of vengefulness, a meanness, a great insult returned, a sneer at the Cross, a slap in the back of satan, friendship with compromise…in the pews, where we rather not say John3:16 out loud; I’m so tired of the skin deep Christmas we have made it.
If Christ had to be Live in one of our celebrations, I wonder which part of it we’d edit out?
What’s Your prayer for the Earth as we close in on another 365? I’ll rewrite that – what’s your prayer for you…in view of Eternity?
