For I am persuaded …!

Trish* just recovering from surgery is back home now, her lovely face underlined with strength :

Ai pic. Trish, name changed

the joy of clear reports slightly overshadowed by surgery. “It was too much for me to think of myself, so I just focused on my Lord. Listened to music, worshipped. I did not ask for healing, but for patience to go thru’ this in His Strength, not my own. ..” Her eyes shine with Light that refuses to dim, talking about how the Lord Jesus suffered on the Cross for us. “..and God gave me the strength to endure…”

Trish is my niece from my husband NoeJeff’s side. Single mom of 2 beautiful young girls, growing gracefully in the shelter of grandparents Graci’ka & Gladwi’na, Trish murmurs her gratitude. Doc was so appreciative, “Brave girl,” he said. Her smile isn’t stopped by the inflamed lip and jaw. Stitches were removed yesterday, she cried for the first time. “Don’t want to see daddy worry, when I’m like that.”

Daddy G. grins in a 360 degree smile, counting blessings. “They took such good care of us, who cares like that – these days?!”

Then he fills in with fun incidents at the hospital: 70+ and going, you can’t tell. Their younger daughter Sophi and family are missed. The eldest Cynthi grins, passes around chips. All three girls inherited his humor as well as their momma’s caring eyes. He has tears, so do I, as we huddle in a prayer. Noe’s voice and gentle touch goes over the room; we sing “Give thanks with a grateful heart..

Graci’ka nods softly. “Yes, He took care of our every need..” She’s a strong lady with many miracles in her. The eldest granddaughter a tall slender 16 year old closes in a touching prayer, no notes of fatigue, just little sunbeams in the early monsoon breeze. The girls shut a balcony door, as the night seeps in. Gladwi’ na is mellow with gratitude,

he takes me by the arm, to show a gift given by his nephew. His wife the bubbly Graci, asks if we’ll stay to dinner. Next time. The younger g.daughter flashes a smile as she feeds her mother spoon on spoon. There’s so many nice warm things I want to say, but there’s no need for words.

We hug, leave. You don’t need to persuade me into feeling the love of God – it is Thickest in the moment when our strength can thin out. For sure. For sure. If we let Him.

  1. It is beautiful when God brings a family through a crisis. We were sheltered by the prayers of many when my grandson suffered an aneurysm/brain bleed. He recovered and we were filled with joy.
